Film Workshops
Fred's Digital Media Workshops
for Teens and Adults
To open the art of filmmaking to teens as a creative tool for self-expression, producers Ben Patton and Scott Kinnamon founded Fred’s Experiential Media.
Fred’s teen workshops are held each summer around the country. In 2009, workshops were held in Hamilton, Massachusetts and Denver, Colorado, with eventual expansion into New York and elsewhere.
Through the medium of digital video, students develop technical as well
as valuable life skills - from teamwork to time management. More importantly, they learn that they too have a voice and each of them has something to say. By helping its students produce narrative films, social documentaries and music videos, Fred also provides its students with the tools to make their own family documentaries.
In addition to working with teens, Fred organizes intensive media literacy/filmmaking workshops for adults as well as teacher-training seminars in narrative filmmaking for schools and organizations.
